课程简介
This unit introduces the fundamental principles of kinematics and kinetics as applied to particles and rigid bodies. You will explore concepts of displacement, velocity, and acceleration in rectilinear, curvilinear, and projectile motion, and develop the ability to formulate equations of motion in different coordinate systems.
Through analysis of forces and motion in planar mechanisms, you will apply kinematic and kinetic principles to understand the behaviour of translating and rotating bodies. The unit also extends these concepts to the principles of work, energy, impulse and momentum, and provides an introduction to the mechanical vibration of dynamic systems.

- ULO1 Determine the motion of particles and rigid bodies in translating and rotating systems by applying the principles of work, energy, impulse, and momentum.
- ULO2 Analyse forces and motion in planar mechanisms by applying kinematic and kinetic principles.
- ULO3 Apply project management principles to plan, monitor, and reflect on time utilised throughout the semester to support effective study practices and continuous improvement.
教学方式与预期工作量
教学方式
Active learning - You will actively engage in applying your knowledge, skills, and attributes in interactive, collaborative, and reflective activities.
预期工作量
The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester, typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning, and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment, and preparation for scheduled activities.
