课程简介
ENV2726 will expose you to the biodiversity and biological resources in the local and global platforms. You will carry out four case studies: two case studies examine in-depth local biodiversity and conservation issues and two case studies will examine the global threats to biodiversity and biological resources. The lectures will cover reasons for, and methods of, measuring and monitoring species, populations, habitats, communities and ecosystems. These topics are explored with the aim of addressing environmental problems we faced today.

- ULO1 Discuss the major issues relating to the sustainable use of biological resources;
- ULO2 Explain the methods of conservation at various levels (eg. species, population, community, ecosystem etc.) and discuss the various conservation strategies that are available;
- ULO3 Express their opinions regarding the usefulness or desirability of particular conservation and/or management strategies in particular circumstances;
- ULO4 Identify and discuss various issues, which can affect conservation attempts and apply knowledge of these issues in order to recommend conservation strategies for real or hypothetical situations;
- ULO5 Identify the importance of healthy ecosystems and biological resources in the wider field of resource management.

• 2 hours of workshops (scheduled) and
• 7 hours of independent study per week and
• 3 days/2 nights field trip (24 hours).
