课程简介
This unit introduces you to the tropical environments of Southeast Asia from coral reefs and mangrove swamps to lowland rain forests and mountains. It explores the flora, fauna, climate, biogeography and ecosystems of the region. A comparison is made with the Australian environment and other ecosystems of the world. Human impacts on the environment such as pollution, energy use, food production and human population growth are discussed and ameliorative measures explored. The field trip enables you to compare the ecological processes of three different tropical environments.

Field trips - This is compulsory and will introduce you to some of the tropical environments discussed in the lectures. Information from the field trip may be included on the final exam.
Active learning - The professional experience, reflection tasks and other assessment tasks aim to provide a mixture of theory, self-awareness, and practical experience, which are essential elements of professional development.
Online learning - The unit features the following teaching and learning approaches:
