Online learning - Pre-recorded lectures will give students another avenue of teaching on-demand, on top of the standard delivery of lectures. The prescribed textbook will be provided online.
Active learning - Standard lectures will be delivered, covering the fundamentals of robotics. Laboratory activities will be conducted throughout the semester which will reinforce concepts learnt throughout the semester.
Simulation or virtual practice - Laboratory work includes a simulation-based component which will help you to visualise and understand how theorems, concepts and principles are applied in the field of robotics.
Problem-based learning - Weekly practical activities will provide problems for you to solve, which will assist you to understand key concepts and principles of robotics. Assignment problems will focus on real-life applications which links theories and concepts with industry.
Peer assisted learning - Laboratory work involving physical interaction with a robot will operate under a collaborative setting, where you will work with others in small groups to solve robotics-related problems.
The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
