课程简介
In this unit, you will continue your training in research via three components. First, research design and analysis topics presented in first and second year will be explored at a more advanced theoretical level. The major focus of this component will be analysis of variance and multiple regression. Second, you will develop experience performing statistical analyses using a statistical software package. Finally, you will continue your training in research design and analysis by undertaking an independent research project

- ULO1 Explain the theory underlying linear regression (including special case of analysis of variance), multiple predictors, and moderation and model comparison
- ULO2 Practically implement appropriate analysis plans using these models in software
- ULO3 Apply knowledge of the research process from: a) Organizing an argument based on background literature, b) formulating and justifying a research question and testable hypotheses, c) Performing appropriate analyses using statistical software, d) interpreting and discussing results from model testing
- ULO4 Prepare and communicate psychological findings by presenting a psychology research project in standard journal article format, including order of presentation, conventional methods of reporting statistics, appropriate use of tables and figures, and APA formatting
- ULO5 Make analysis and presentation choices that align with ethical practices for replication and reproducibility in psychology

2 hours of lectures per week.
2 hours of tutorials 11 times per semester.
Induction tutorial: 1 hour in Week 1 of semester
Preparation: Eight hours background reading/preparation for lectures, tutorials and assessment tasks per week. Attendance at tutorials is recommended in order to successfully complete in-class activities and related assessment tasks.
