课程简介
Projects will consist of solving industry-based problems using design, theoretical or experimental investigation. The projects have to be actual industrial problems identified by industrial partners in the relevant field. The project may be undertaken either within the School or externally within the industry. In either case, an academic member of staff and a person from the industry will act as supervisors. While some projects may benefit from group-based work, it is expected that you will work individually on each project. In the first part, you are expected to plan the project work with sound analysis and generate preliminary findings.

- ULO1 Formulate a research plan following the scientific method incorporating appropriate risk assessments.
- ULO2 Formulate a plan on how to manage the industry project effectively within technical, budgetary, risk and time constraints.
- ULO3 Appraise the research topic through an extensive review of relevant scientific literature and critically analyse its relevance to the project work being proposed.
- ULO4 Synthesise preliminary project findings via written reports and present them to a range of audiences in a professional manner.

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
