课程简介

This unit introduces you to the transformative potential of drone technology, IoT integration and artificial intelligence (AI) in addressing modern engineering challenges. It equips you with the foundational knowledge and practical skills to design, operate, and analyse drones while adhering to essential safety and regulatory frameworks. Through real-world applications, you will use cutting-edge tools like the industrial IoT platform to collect and analyse data, enabling innovation in areas such as environmental monitoring, surveying, and infrastructure assessment.

As part of this unit, you will work in small teams to design and prototype an IoT-enabled drone system that addresses engineering challenges. This hands-on group work will allow you to collaborate effectively, combining theoretical knowledge with practical application. Your prototype will integrate drone operations with IoT technologies and AI-driven analytics, focusing on real-time telemetry, data analytics, and emergency response planning.

You will also gain experience navigating regulatory environments and developing contingency plans to ensure operational safety. By mastering these skills, you will be well-prepared to contribute effectively in industries that depend on connectivity, automation, data analytics and prediction.

Active learning - This unit engages students in actively applying their knowledge, skills and attributes in interactive, collaborative and reflective activities.

Experiential learning: The unit incorporates experiential learning where students participate in hands-on activities and fieldwork.

Project-based learning: This unit will enable students to work on real-world projects, requiring them to use their knowledge and skills to solve complex problems.

预期工作量

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 5 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, labs, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
