课程简介

This unit introduces foundational mathematics required for all disciplines of engineering. It is equivalent to the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Specialist Mathematics and a prerequisite for ENG1005. Major concepts taught using engineering contexts include functions and their properties, complex numbers, vectors, differentiation, integration and application.

Active learning - Face-to-face classes for students studying on campus, and online/distance education for students who are studying remotely. The main learning approach is active learning which requires you to be involved as a proactive learner in the activities and assignments rather than a passive listener.

预期工作量

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning, peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
