Communication network protocols for Industrial IoT

This unit aims to introduce networking and communication industrial technology to enhance Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystems. The unit structure prioritises a balance between theoretical understanding and practical application, ensuring that you not only comprehend IoT network design but also gain proficiency in applying this knowledge in real-world scenarios. By the end of the course, you will be equipped to contribute to the successful deployment and optimisation of IoT networks across diverse applications.

Problem-based learning - To better understand the concepts and principles, you will work by yourself or in a small group to solve the given tasks.

Online learning - You are expected to prepare for the week by studying lecture notes and watching the pre-recorded videos.

Active learning - This unit includes interactive workshops and computer laboratories for you to enhance your knowledge learned in lectures through individual or group participation in the activity.

The minimum total expected workload to achieve the learning outcomes for this unit is 144 hours per semester typically comprising a mixture of 3-6 hours of scheduled learning activities and 6-9 hours of independent study per week. Scheduled activities may include a combination of teacher-directed learning,peer-directed learning and online engagement. Independent study may include associated readings, assessment and preparation for scheduled activities.
